Crazy Business

What a busy two weeks! The first of the two were finals- and checkouts.  Let me tell you a little of what being an RA means during a checkout week.  It is full of cell phone duty, check out duty, late nights of paper work, cleaning checks, and if this isn't crazy enough- we have to be up and ready by eight o clock in the beautiful AM on Friday.  This is when the real chaos begins.  We run up and down stairwells, checking the cleanliness of apartments, and fire alarms. Then we do that again with our Hall Adviser.  Then another time to prep the building for the new residents.  We have about 6 hours to do all this in. Which means a lot of running and pure exhaustion by the end of it.  And let me tell you the random fact I learned through this-
Boys apartments STINK

and each one has a differnt smell- I am not sure how the accomplish it..
.... but they do.

But I had something to look forward to... My Mom and sister Hanna came to visit that night. We had lots of fun

Somehow my mom got out of all the pictures. Friday we just hung out did laundry, watched Pushing Daisies (my favorite TV show).  But Saturday the real fun began, we went to the farmers market- where I got my first very own herb garden.  It is so cute. I have basil, cilantro, rosemary, thyme, chives, parsley, and mint, they sit on my window sill and just brighten the place up.

After a fun day of shopping we headed up to Salt Lake for dinner with the Grandparents and Aunt Tonya.  We went to this amazing little restaurant in Sugarhouse called The Dodo.  That evening I tried Brie and Quiche.  And let me tell you.. I dont know how I made 19 and a half years without either of these. I have been craving Brie constantly since then, and Quiche... well that is just a little piece of heaven.  But the highlight of that night was dessert.  The Dodo makes these AMAZING pie.  and they give HUGE slices..

We got two slices to share with the six of us- the Tollhouse Cookie Dough Pie- which is basically cookie dough stuck inside a pie crust and then baked (an amazing idea)

We also got my personal favorite- banana cream cheese. Words cannot even describe the level of perfection this pie is.

We ended the night with Mr Popper's Penguins.  I was impressed with this movie- it left me with a strong desire to have a pet penguin.

All in all- this was an amazing weekend.

This past weekend held another trip to Salt Lake.  My Grandma, Papa, and I went to the farmers market for breakfast.  I had this HUGE glazed croissant with cream cheese frosting and strawberries and kiwis.. YUM. I then went to Family History Library with my Grandma.  What a cool place, it was a family history majors DREAM... I could of spent hours going through the books, microfilms, and computers.  Once we finished up there I went to the Fine Art Festival with my Aunt Tonya.  what fun we had, I even got this really cool picture of the Salt Lake Temple for my apartment.. I am now on a quest for an equally cool frame.  Decorating an apartment is so much fun.

For dinner that night we went to this Italian restaurant, where they brought you bowls of pasta that they claimed fed up to three people (upon arrival of our food though, I realized it could feed a lot more then three)  After stuffing ourselves full of pasta and salad, we went next door to a gelato shop- I imagine in heaven gelato is what we will be eating.

We finished Saturday night with a 3D showing of Cars 2.  Which was cute- but I must tell say what I got REALLY excited for via the previews... Harry Potter. and guess who has 12:55 am tickets? um yess.. that is me:) I am SO excited. I will be celebrating my Aunt Tonya's birthday with her (her birthday is conveniently the 15th) and not only are we planning on seeing the early morning showing- we want to go back and see it in 3D the next afternoon- Yes we're excited.

Sunday I went to church with my grandparents- they meet in the Joseph Smith Memorial building- I learned why LDS chapels are so simply decorated. I get so distracted in that building by the beautiful art work, chandeliers, the designs on the carpet, and the huge pillars. What a beautiful building. My grandparents gave their "farewell" talk yesterday and did a wonderful job.  Then last night my Papa spoke at a fireside for young single missionaries- and after that fireside I can officially say a young elder told me my dress was pretty- I never thought I would be slightly hit on by an elder... but I guess there is a first time for everything. :)
