The Pitter Patter of Little Feet

*Not a pregnancy announcement...*

As you may have read earlier we are living in Arizona. We're living in a guesthouse that one of my friends said looks like a shack... which may be a little true. But not only are we in a little studio guest house but we are right up against the desert. You look out our back window at any time and you will see about 3 different animals. Lizards, squirrels, ground squirrels, all sorts of birds. I am woken up every morning by squirrels running across our roof. I think they race? Maybe? Do squirrels do that? Because that is what it sounds like. Oh and apparently there are mice outside. I've never seen mice outside but I have seen then inside. Yep that is right INSIDE.

We are currently on our 3rd mouse in the house.

And I could cry. It is so good that we are moving in 2 days. This third mouse has been caught. Well contained I guess- it's hiding in our bathroom in between this space between a cupboard and the bath tub. Jason caught it Monday morning and every day since then my trips to the bathroom may have been hurried and accompanied by a golf club. Because who wants to encounter a mouse while in the bathroom. Not me that is for sure. At least this way I feel protected you know?

The other morning after finding the mouse I told Jason "We've been wanting the little pitter patter of little feet but this is not what I had in mind" There is nothing like both Jason and I waking up to little mouse feet at 5:30 in the morning.

But in other exciting news Jason saw his first road runner last week. That conversation was funny also "Halie look at that funny looking bird" "That's a road runner" "No that's not a road runner" One google search later he believed me. He's adjusting to this desert living just fine.

Our road runner friend

A squirrel on the window sill.. the blinds were closed and he gave me a heart attack

Desert Rats, Pack Rats or Ground Squirrels... they go by all three names it seems.

When we move back to Tucson we are adopting a cat.

  1. i really really really really dislike mice. they're not as cute as the ones in cinderella. first time we saw one in our house, I told Brian we were heading to a hotel that night! I was kidding. sort of. excited to see you guys soon and have you back in town!
