So just over a week ago my phone broke, after trouble shooting over the phone and trying everything on the internet Jason and I decided a trip to the apple store was in order. The nearest Genius Bar is in Sandy so we decided to make a day of it and also go to Ikea. I saw Allyson at work that morning and she said they were also going to Ikea, and of course we could not pass up a day to play up north.
So after spending an hour at fashion place mall (which is another story for another day) We headed up to Ikea. After walking through the top floor we met up with Allyson and Jordan in the restaurant. We left our stuff with them and went and got in line. After a few minutes we realized how slow the line was moving and I snuck out to grab our stuff so we wouldn't hold up their shopping. I went and sat at a table near the end of the line so I could see when Jason was done and I could help him carry all the food if he needed. He got to the end of the line and I stood up. Only to feel my skirt stick to the chair as I stood up. I looked down and realized I had spent the last five minutes sitting in maple syrup. The syrup had soaked through every layer I was wearing.. it felt lovely. So Jason and I spent the next little bit using our water cup to pour water on my skirt and dab it with paper towels. I wish I could say I handled this well... but I didn't. I was so annoyed, and hungry, and I had woken up early for work so I was a little tired, so I spent a lot of this trying not to cry. I feel like I was keeping my emotions under control till Jason mentioned the water in my eyes. So then not only are we washing my skirt with paper towels in the middle of Ikea.. but I am also crying in the middle of Ikea. It was a great moment, and I will say Jason handled it beautifully.
Our trip north was actually a lot of fun, minus the maple syrup incident. Jason and I went to the This Is The Place Monument and have vowed to go back one day when the shops and visitor center is open. I found a house that I am going to INSIST that our future custom built house is built exactly like. We also finished up our evening at The Dodo eating appetizers and pie (our waitress loved us) I am now fully convinced that there is no problem too big that raspberry chocolate mousse pie can not fix. Just send that pie to every government in the world, we'll have world peace in no time.
